I believe your final product is only as good as the ingredients that go into it. That's why I've made a concerted effort to source only the best, highest quality, and often times local, ingredients possible.
We only use U.S.D.A. Certified Organic eggs. The yokes in an organic egg are by far the most beautiful golden sunshine color I've ever seen in an egg. Subsequently, our Key Lime Pie (a favorite of the folks at Skirt! Magazine) is an equally beautiful color.
After testing numerous flours, I finally settled on King Arthur's non GMO flour. It's a high quality, non bleached or bromated flour.
Valrhona is a premium French chocolate manufacturer producing the world's finest gourmet chocolates since 1922. We now solely use their cocoa powder for all our desserts.
Every effort is made to use locally grown and organic fruits like strawberries, raspberries, bananas, peaches and blueberries for all our tasty baked goods. Sometimes though Mother Nature doesn't want to cooperate so a trip to the local Whole Foods is in order for fresh fruit.
We make our own vanilla extract by extracting Madagascar Vanilla Beans in locally distilled Firefly Vodka. Firefly, made in Wadmalaw, SC, has won numerous awards and is distilled six times for extra smoothness. And that smoothness is noticeable especially in our cream cheese frosting...yum!
We have two pretty darn good chocolate cupcakes with coffee in them. While you can't taste the coffee, it does make for a very moist cupcake. And we're proud to use locally roasted King Bean Coffee in North Charleston.
