Charleston Pineapple Cake & Gender Reveal Cake
When Christopher Columbus "discovered" the pineapple and brought it back to Europe, it was considered a delicacy, as it was uncommon and sweet. It evolved into a fruit for nobility as it was seen as a symbol of wealth and prominence. Proper ladies would host dinner parties with stacked fruit and place the pineapple at the highest point to display her family’s wealth.
As the fruit became more common, it became a symbol of friendship and hospitality, as it played a role in the gathering of friends and family when sailors returned to Charleston after months at sea. It was said, sailors would spear a pineapple on their fence post to let friends and family know they returned safely. And....to come on over and enjoy the dinner, cocktails and tales of pirates and plunder while they were away. Thus we saw it only fitting to create a unique pineapple cake for our guests. While our original Charleston Pineapple Cake has often been copied, it most certainly can't be replicated with the same quality ingredients we use in all our baked treats. This beauty is made with 2-5-layers of cake in either 6", 8" or 10" and has a Swiss buttercream exterior frosting. Gender Reveal Cake - We can also make the interior cake blue or pink for your gender reveal party. We only make this cake as milk and vanilla. We like to think it's the best way to enjoy the beauty and simplicity of this cake but it's also the sturdiest to allow for the height of the cake. Replanting Instructions
Cake is delivered with an entire fresh pineapple. After your event, simply place the pineapple top in water. Within a few weeks, roots will sprout and you can then replant in your garden. There's no better way to celebrate your special day than with fresh pineapple year round. |
